Meet the RiverBugs...

Viv Booker, Janine Andrews, Scott Wise, Louise Marsh

RiverBugs quintet with Gary Larkin on drums

The RiverBugs is a Jazz Swing Quartet based in South West WA, Margaret River.

The band formed in 2017 when Jazz singer Janine Andrews, who moved to Australia a few years ago after growing up in France and singing professionally in Paris, came across local South West legend Scott Wise.

Scott (guitar) was playing his regular spot at the Margaret River Farmers market when Janine suggested they get together and try a few songs.

Scott called in the swinging jazz veteran Mr Viv Booker on double bass and after a few rehearsals the RiverBugs were born. About a year passed and it was time to call for the doctor; Doctor Louise Marsh is the jazziest doc in town ripping up the Tenor Saxophone bringing the threesome to an awesome foursome!

The 4 players bring influences from years of experience in different genres but concentrate their efforts on jazz standards, swing, R'n'B and some Latin classics.

When the occasion permits the RiverBugs perform as a full quintet joined by Gary Larkin on drums for a full blown Jazz experience.

"It has been a real treat to land all the way from Paris to a relatively small town like Margaret River and come across such experienced and talented people to play music with. When I started the RiverBugs I wanted to play a fun and humble music which was far from the competitive environment I came from. The RiverBugs is about music for music, to make people happy, make people click their fingers, have a dance, smile and enjoy themselves as much as we enjoy playing these tunes." Janine Andrews (singer)
